The Manang Trek is a breathtaking journey through the heart of the Annapurna region, offering a perfect blend of dramatic Himalayan scenery, rich Tibetan-influenced culture, and high-altitude adventure. Starting from lush river valleys and pine forests, the trail gradually ascends into the stunning Manang Valley, where snow-capped peaks, ancient monasteries, and traditional stone villages create an unforgettable trekking experience. This trek is also an important acclimatization route for those heading toward Thorong La Pass, making it both scenic and strategically significant.

Mardi Himal Trek Requirement

  • Original Passport & Visa – A valid passport with at least 6 months validity and a Nepal tourist visa are required for entry and trekking.
  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) – A mandatory permit for trekking in the Annapurna region, including Manang Valley.
  • TIMS Card – A compulsory trekking registration card used for safety monitoring and trek management in Nepal.
  • Passport-size Photos – Two recent passport-size photos are needed for permit processing and official documentation.
  • Licensed Trekking Guide (Mandatory) – Hiring a government-licensed guide through a registered agency is legally required for trekking in the Manang region.
  • Physical Fitness Requirement – Trekkers should be prepared for moderate to challenging hikes of 5–7 hours per day on varied mountain terrain.
  • Altitude Readiness – Trekkers must be capable of acclimatizing safely at high elevations, typically ranging from 3,500m to over 5,000m.
  • Travel Insurance (Mandatory) – Insurance must cover medical emergencies, accidents, and helicopter evacuation at high altitudes up to at least 6,000 meters.
  • Personal Trekking Gear – Proper warm clothing and gear such as a down jacket, thermals, gloves, and sleeping bag suitable for freezing temperatures are essential.

  • Full payment must be cleared before departing from Kathmandu.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Chame

After arriving in Pokhara, drive to Kande, the starting point of the trek. The trail passes through Australian Camp and Pothana, offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Continue through lush rhododendron and oak forests before reaching Forest Camp for an overnight stay.

Begin the day with a gradual ascent through dense forests rich in wildlife and natural beauty. As you gain elevation, the trees begin to thin, revealing stunning views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and the surrounding peaks. Arrive at Low Camp and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Today’s trek follows a scenic ridgeline above the tree line, providing spectacular panoramic views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The landscape becomes more alpine as you approach High Camp, where you will spend the night surrounded by magnificent Himalayan scenery.

Rise early for a memorable hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp. The trail offers breathtaking sunrise views and close-up panoramas of some of Nepal’s most iconic mountains. After spending time at the base camp and enjoying the incredible surroundings, return to High Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Leave the high alpine environment behind as you descend through grassy slopes, forests, and traditional mountain settlements. The route offers a different perspective of the landscape and an opportunity to experience the local culture and hospitality of the region. Overnight stay at Siding Village.

After breakfast, continue descending to the road head before driving back to Pokhara. Upon arrival, enjoy free time to relax by Phewa Lake, explore local markets, or simply unwind after completing the trek. Overnight stay in Pokhara.
